Started writing some posts on Bluesky and then realized the long thread makes more sense as a blog post.
Some random tidbits…
Recently, there was a rainbow in a video on the projector and the toddler said “arc en ciel”. He’s apparently been dominating his daycare’s French class.
He also seems to already know some Chinese words that I don’t. >_>
Lately, he’s been very talkative and announces things like “there’s a fan in the restaurant!”
In other news, my wife actually likes Baldur’s Gate 3. She prefers to play without spoilers and explore for fun, so I got into trouble for trying to optimize builds and looking up encounters on the Wiki too much. It’s a thing I have to unlearn. Like, some games I make spreadsheets for…
Life in general is… going? I’m still not very efficient with my time, but things are slowly getting done.
Been feeling lower recently, but still functioning. Generally feel like… somewhat disaffected at no particular thing? I mean, I have a lot to be grateful for, I just…
Still getting distracted with random things like trying to figure out my favourite teas (Earl Grey, Genmaicha, and Barley), and whether henley shirts make more sense than my generic one standard unit of human plain grey Uniqlo t-shirts.
These are not important things, but I can’t help it.
Tried getting some friends’ feedback on a research paper thing, and also posted on some forums about that game theory thing. Response to the first was it looked promising but needs a lot of work. The second got little to no response.
I am lukewarm about continuing either project to be honest.
We also recently started taking the toddler downtown. He actually really likes riding the subway. My wife always wants to go places on weekends, but I’m such an indoor cat. My anxiety is usually unwarranted, but I can’t seem to avoid it. Always worried the toddler might explode or something.
We go to a certain upscale French restaurant often enough that the toddler now says things like “we’re going to the fancy restaurant!” while we’re driving there. He also knows “green means go!” in both English and Chinese.
The toddler’s favourite toy is this green pinwheel he got from the daycare end-of-year party. He carries it everywhere in the house, spinning it as he goes.
Lately, he’s been taking the stuffies from around the house and gradually converging them into his nursery.
Oh, also, he can already read numbers up to 30 something, and actually count things and I think he understands they represent quantities. He also has a remarkably good memory and has memorized several of his board books and can recite them by heart.
Anyways, that’s all for now… if you’re reading this, I hope you’re well, whoever you are, and whatever you’re doing!
